ASTANGA
This is an intensely physical and athletic form of yoga – good for those who want a fast-paced challenge. Our teachers’ approach make this class accessible to all including beginners. The practice follows a prescribed set of asanas, channelling energy through the body. Anyone who is up for a challenge requiring a little more strength and who knows their physical limits can definitely do Astanga.

First class? Excited and slightly scared – knowing I couldn’t just hang out. Standing in warrior pose feeling fierce and empowered. Second class – much more engaged from the start and feeling the energy.

It’s demanding and I can sound bossy. You will get powerful but sympathetic encouragement. It’s the same sequence every time and students come to like that. It takes a short while to learn to use a focused gaze on parts of your body but you soon find that really works.
