Hello, I’m Wale
Way back in the ‘80s, I taught the martial arts. Moving to Bristol in 1996, I trained as an Iyengar Yoga teacher. I came across Astanga and was immediately struck by its similarities with the martial arts and was instantly drawn to it, as it combines the martial arts discipline and work ethic with the harmony and balance found in yoga.I studied Astanga with Guy Donahaye who now teaches in New York and, in 1999, I went to Mysore, South India to study with the late, great Guru Pattabi Jois – an experience of a lifetime. I’m a keen rock climber and have started Triathlon training. I’m also a experienced chef and have been known to run yoga workshops followed by a cooked meal. I often wonder if the food is a bigger draw than the yoga!
